Ballroom Dance class is being offered on Monday evenings in The Sycamore Hall at Woodland Park.
A six week class begins Sept. 15 Cost for the program is $55 for singles, residents or $60 nonresidents or as a couple $95 for residents and $100 for others.
Just Dance classes
Learn the moves of belly dancing and the mysterious nature of the 5 Rhythms. For more information on this program, contact The Park Department's instructor, Cynthia Smith-Faught at (219) 588-5201. The first class is Sept. 15 at the Portage Yacht Club for $10. The class runs from 6 to 8 p.m.
Yoga Yoga Yoga!
The yoga practice is perfect for beginners and seasoned students. The techniques can be used to reduce

Country line dance class
Line dance classes will begin on Oct. 7. No dance partner is needed. Chris Hayes has
been teaching line dancing for more than 15 years. Join her as she teaches all the foot stomping moves. Class is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost is $35 for residents and $40 for others.

Community dances
The park department's monthly dances will begin again on Sunday evenings beginning Sept. 21. Come
out and enjoy this social gathering with your friends or come and meet new dance partners. Dances are held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 21 at Woodland Park. Cost is $5 a person.
Tumbling Tuesdays
Children will learn the fundamentals of tumbling while developing balance, agility, and strength in a relaxed, fun environment. Younger students will learn the fundamentals of tumbling while playing games with an introduction to exercise, social development and following direction in a structured program. Older students will learn more skilled tumbling techniques with equipment including balance beam, swing bar, and spring board. No tumbling experience required. There will be six consecutive Tuesdays per session, all held at the Portage Yacht Club. Session 1 begins Sept. 16. Following sessions begin Nov. 11, Jan. 13 and March 17. Children will be grouped by age, 2-3 year olds will be at 6-6:45 p.m.; 4-5 year olds will be from 6:45-7:30 p.m. and 6-8 year olds will be from 7:0 to 8:15 p.m. There will be a maximum of 15 children per class. Cheerleading class
Portage Parks' partnership with Young Champions returns this fall to provide weekly cheerleading classes at Woodland Park for both girls and boys. This is a fun course designed for making friends while learning choreographed pom-pom and dance routines. Students will also learn the most popular cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, kicks and several other skills required for school tryouts. No experience needed. The program will conclude in regional competition held in January. The program is held on Mondays at Woodland Park's Oakwood Hall from Sept. 22 through Jan. 19. no classes Oct. 20, Nov. 10, Dec. 22 and 29) Register at Woodland Park. Mountain bike time trial
Test your skills and speed as you race against the clock on 10-miles of tight, twisty single track at Imagination Glen. A cookout will follow the time trial. The trial is set for Sept. 28. Register from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and trial begins at 11 a.m. The cost is $20 for online preregistration at www.outbacktrail.org or $25 the day of the event. There will be three categories: women's open, men's 35 and under and men's 36 and older.
Tennis clinic
Learn tennis from an UPSTA Developmental Coach/ Portage High School tennis coach and players. meet at PHS tennis courts on three Saturdays in October on the following dates: Oct. 11, 18 and 25. The program is from 9 to 11 a.m. and is open to individuals 6 and older. The cost is $30 per person and the registration deadline is Oct. 8. Call (219) 762-1675.
Women's volleyball
Time to reserve a team's spot. A-division plays Thursday nights and B-division plays Tuesday nights. Teams play two games each night and will be assigned games to score. Each team will play a 20-match schedule. The season begins Oct. 28 Games begin at 7 p.m. depending on number of teams. All games will be held at Woodland Park, Oakwood Hall. Players must be at least 18 and out of high school. The cost is $275 per team and the deadline to register is Oct. 11. Open gym dates for league teams are Oct. 1, 21, 14 and 16. Call 9219) 762-1675.
Indoor street soccer
Children are encouraged to increase their skills through this instructional soccer program. There will be six consecutive Wednesdays per session with Session 1 beginning Nov. 5 and Session 2 beginning Jan. 14. All classes will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Woodland Park Oakwood Hall. This program is for ages 4 to 7 and the cost is $30 per resident and $35 for nonresidents. The registration deadline is the Friday before the program begins. Limited to 20 people. Fall warm up volleyball tourney
Bring your team out to knock off the rust at Portage Parks first ever Women's Fall Warm-up. There will be two divisions: A & B. Each division is limited to the first 8 teams to register. The entire round robin tournament will be held on Oct. 5 at woodland Park's Oakwood Grand Hall. The first game will be at 8 a.m. and teams must check in half hour before first scheduled game. Cost is $115 per team and lunch is provided. The tournament should wrap up around 5 or 6, depending on the number of teams that register. Players must be 18 years old and out of high school. Dodgeball
An after-school dodgeball program will be structured but will consist mainly of open play dodgeball. There will be an instructor on hand to explain the rules of the game and help officiate matches. The program will be on Mondays from Oct. 6 through Dec. 15 (no class Oct 20, Nov 10). The 6 n 9 year old program is from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the 10 n 13 year old is from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Woodland Park's Oakwood Hall and the cost is $5 per night. Students must pre-register at front office. Fees can be pre-paid per-session or all at once. Players must register before each class begins and students must show instructor receipt. There must be a minimum of 8 participants for this program to take place.
Volleyball refs needed
If you have experience refereeing high school, club or recreational volleyball or enjoy the sport and would like to become a referee, contact the Portage Park Department at (219) 762-1675, ext. 308 immediately. We are in need of refs for the upcoming women's tournament and season which begin in October. Games are held from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
