FALL BRUNCH | Schererville

Women's Guild of Calumet College of St. Joseph will hold its 27th annual Fall Brunch Oct. 19 at Briar Ridge Country Club, 123 Country Club Drive. CORVETTE CHALLENGE | Morocco

Crown Point Corvette Club and other surrounding corvette clubs will host an All Corvette Challenge bracket race day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at the U.S. 41 Drag Strip. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to benefit the flood victims in NW Indiana. All Corvette owners and spectators are invited to join in the efforts to raise money for flooding victims. TOASTMASTER AWARD | Merrillville

District 11 of Toastmasters International will present Thomas Carroll, president and CEO of Lakeshore Public Television, with a distinguished service award at its fall conference awards luncheon Oct. 11 at The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, Interstate 65 and U.S. 30.. He was nominated for the award by the Toastmasters' Executive Diction Club of Northwest Indiana. Keynoting the conference is Edward Hearn, a criminal defense lawyer and minister who claimed the title of 2006 World Champion of Public Speaking.

The fall conference Oct. 10 and 11 will offer educational sessions, presentations and awards. The annual Humorous Speech Contest at 8 p.m. Oct. 11 is open to the public.

District 11 is made up of 141 clubs and 2,500 members in Indiana and the northwestern part of Kentucky, including seven Toastmaster Clubs in Northwest Indiana.
