Homicide is suspected in Monday's death of a 6-month-old Chesterton boy, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office in Chicago.
Nicholas B. Munden suffered blunt head trauma in what is labeled as child abuse and homicide, according to the medical examiner.
No further details were available Wednesday.
The Porter County Sheriff's Department and county prosecutor's office declined comment about the case.
According to an obituary in The Times, Munden was born March 28 in Valparaiso to Ronald Brett and Jessica Ann (Tauchman) Munden. He is survived by a twin brother.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel.
