MOTHER'S DAY BANQUET | Gary

The Gary Educators For Christ in partnership with Sisters In The Spirit are asking for women in Northwest Indiana to help sponsor the Fourth Annual Mother's Day Banquet for all mothers and grandmothers who have no family to be with them. Antioch Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 86th anniversary April 26 and 27 at 3902 Alexander Ave.

The gospel play "The Glory Train," which recounts the story of a train ride a group of Christians take from the land of the living to their final destination in the afterlife, will be presented at 6 p.m. April 26, preceded by a dinner at 4 p.m. Come see who makes it to the Golden Gates. The celebration continue at the 10:45 a.m. worship service April 27 with the Rev. William Collins, pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hammond as guest speaker. There will also be a 4 p.m. service with the Rev. Gilbert Washington, pastor of St. Paul Bethel Church in South Bend, as the speaker.

SOLVE THE MYSTERY | Portage

The Home and School Association will present a murder mystery dinner show, "Marriage Can Be Murder," at 7 p.m. April 26 at Nativity Hall, Nativity of Our Saviour Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road. The hilarious and deadly wedding of Lisa and Michael will be followed by a reception complete with DJ and dancing until 11:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to those who solve the crime. The cost for appetizers, dinner, entertainment, DJ and dancing is $25 per person prior to April 21 and $30 after that date. Tickets may be purchased at the school office or by phone. There will be a cash bar and baby-sitting is available for a small fee if reserved in advance.

Cedar Lake Ministries will hold its annual Spring Ladies Retreat Weekends from April 25 to 27 and May 2 to 4. Salem United Methodist Church of Porter Township will sponsor an all-you-can-eat country breakfast 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 26 at the Salem Fellowship Hall, 756 West 350 South, across from the church south of Lakes of the Four Seasons. Menu includes eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, bacon, hashbrowns and fruit salad, along with milk, juice and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger. SPAGHETTI DINNER | Hammond

Orchard Drive Baptist Church will serve a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. April 26 at 3425 Orchard Drive. The meal includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, tea, soft drinks and coffee. Dessert also will be served. Proceeds will be used for an upcoming mission trip.
