CROWN POINT | Tickets for the City of Crown Point's new event, Pork Chops and BBQ in the Park, set for May 24 at Collins Park, are on sale until May 20.

The family-friendly event from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. will feature pork chops and BBQ from Hog Haven of Dyer, along with tennis, bocce ball and other outdoor games.

Meal tickets are $11 for an 18-oz. pork chop, BBQ or regular, or pulled pork BBQ. Meals come with cole slaw, Hawaiian baked beans, potato salad and a soda, lemonade or water. The kid's meal features a hot dog, chips and applesauce for $4.

Ticket proceeds will be used for event supplies and no tickets will be sold at the event, only in advance. Tickets are available at the Mayor's Office and Clerk-Treasurer's Office in Crown Point City Hall, 101 N. East St. and at the Crown Point Parks Department, 1313 E. North Street. Tickets can also be purchased directly at Hog Haven, 1514 Joliet St. #A in Dyer.

Event parking will be available at South Park Baptist Church, 9903 Merrillville Road, from noon to 3 p.m., with free shuttle service to the event location on Crown Point's own Molley the Trolley.
