Two teenagers arrested in connection with burglaries
FLOSSMOOR | Police have made a pair of arrests in connection with a series of home burglaries, and police are asking the public for any information about possible suspects.
Police Chief William Miller said two Chicago Heights 15-year-olds were arrested in connection with three burglaries and one attempted burglary, which occurred between April 15 and April 30 in an area bounded by Tina Lane, Thomas Court, Markey Lane and Pinehurst Lane.
Miller said the investigation continues and centers on some additional juvenile offenders.
"We don't know if we have cleared all of them or not," he said. "It looks like four to five people may be involved in these.
Police arrested one of the 15-year-olds May 7 in Chicago Heights, and, during a search warrant, recovered items from three of the burglaries. The second suspect was arrested May 17 in Chicago Heights.
Both teenagers each face three counts of residential burglary.
The burglaries brought a crowd of village residents to an April 29 meeting at village hall. There, Village President Roger Molski and Miller address the crown about the crimes.
"I don't have all the answers -- I wish I did," Molski said in response to alarmed residents who bombarded him with questions.
When told that several residents had seen people cutting through their yards during daytime hours in the past month, the mayor asked them to immediately report suspicious activity to police.
Police have stepped up patrols in response to the burglaries, which occurred during the daytime, and when most victims were at work.
Police said the burglars gained entry through back doors, large windows, basement windows and, in one case, an unlocked door.
No one was injured in any of the burglaries, and victims reported missing items such as a laptop computer, electronics, jewelry and handguns, police said.
