Cop: Man engaged in sex act; minor watched
PINE TOWNSHIP | A Michigan City man was charged Monday with a felony count of performing a sex act in the presence of a minor.
Porter County police said Christopher Kayser, 18, had his girlfriend perform a sex act on him in the front seat of his car while a boy under 14 years of age was in the back seat watching. The incident occurred March 7 in Pine Township, police said.
Sex offender accused of not registering
PORTAGE | Portage police on Monday filed a felony charge of failure to register for the sex offender registry against a 23-year-old convicted sex offender who they say failed to register as a sex offender once he began living in Portage.
Ronald Burgess, convicted of statutory rape in Missouri in 2001, failed to register between Feb. 1 and April 11, police said.
Man arrested after hit-and-run crash
PORTAGE TOWNSHIP | A 43-year-old Portage man was arrested about 8 p.m. Monday on drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident charges.
Dale Penix is accused of fleeing the scene of a two-car crash at McCool Road and Briarwood in South Haven. Police said they found him on Central Avenue in Portage and arrested him.
