Main Street to be closed for two months

HEBRON | The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Ind. 2 /U.S. 231 (Main Street) between the southern town limits of Hebron and Fairlane Street will be closed for about two months beginning Monday. This will allow work to continue on the road reconstruction project on Ind. 2 between the southern and northern town limits of Hebron.

A posted detour will direct northbound Ind. 2/U.S. 231 traffic to take Ind. 2 west to Interstate 65 north to U.S. 231 south and back to Ind. 2/U.S. 231. Southbound traffic will be directed to take U.S. 231 north to I-65 south to Ind. 2 east and back to Ind. 2/U.S. 231.

Winged monkey actor to appear at Oz fest

The 27th annual Indiana Wizard of Oz Festival will be held Sept. 12-14 at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso.

Appearing this year will be Danny Windsor, a winged monkey in the 1939 movie extravaganza.

Now 83 years old, Windsor is a patriarch of dance, comedy and song. From Broadway's lights, Las Vegas casinos, London theaters, Hollywood's nightclubs, and everywhere in between, the song and dance man says he's "done it all."

On Sept. 12, at the festival's semi-formal dinner buffet and adult evening gala at Porter County Expo Center, Windsor will entertain.

Breakfast with the Munchkins is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 14. It is attended by original Munchkins, celebrity guests and official Oz Festival characters.

Admission to the festival is $2 for adults and $1 for children and seniors. Parking is free.

PNC faculty member earns Distinguished Research Award

Tantatape Brahmasrene, professor of business at Purdue University North Central, recently co-authored the article, "Recent Evidence of Small Business Development in CIS Transition Economies" that earned the Distinguished Research Award at the Allied Academies International Conference.

The paper will be published in the International Journal of Entrepreneurship, a refereed journal.

He has a bachelor's from Kasetsart University, an master's from Indiana State University and a master's and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. He is a certified financial planner and chartered financial consultant.
