CEDAR LAKE | A local man is in the Lake County Jail following his Monday arrest on charges of heroin possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.

Police were called to the South Shore Apartments, 14424 Morse St., by owner Peter Blagojevic at 11:30 a.m. Monday when John Hollet Brown, 28, a former tenant there, arrived and refused to leave the premises.

Brown was found hiding in one of the apartments and was in possession of a syringe, the contents of which field tested as heroin.

Police Chief Roger Patz said Brown is lodged in the county jail pending his initial hearing.
