Craft show | Sauk Village
St. James Church will have its annual holiday craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at St. James Church, 22400 Torrence Ave. Existing for more than 35 years, it has 80 crafters. There will be pictures with Santa and a bake sale. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Winter event | Chicago
The Special Olympics Chicago will have a snowshoeing and cross country event at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 at Mann Park, 13000 S. Carondolet Ave. in Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood. Volunteers are needed. Registration and training is from 8 to 9 a.m. with competition taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Modular train show | Calumet City
Calumet City Historical Society will host its sixth annual Lionel modular train show and visit with Santa from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 at the museum, 760 Wentworth Ave. Rochelle Pennington, author of "Christmas Tree Ship" will give a presentation at 1 p.m. Dec. 7. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Breakfast with Santa | Calumet City
The Ehinger Brothers VFW 8141 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a Breakfast With Sanaa from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 7 at the Post Home, 664 Hirsch Ave. Pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and milk will be served. Adults eat for $6, children younger than 8 eat for $3. Santa and his elves will be there to greet the children and for pictures. Profit will be used for Support Our Troops and other charitable programs of the auxiliary. The public is invited to attend. No reservations are required.

Holiday lights | Homewood
Homewood's annual Holiday Lights event is scheduled for tonight in conjunction with the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District's tree lighting ceremony and community tree decorating contest, Radiance on Ridge. Musical trolley rides will travel throughout the downtown from 6 to 9:30 p.m., stopping at each merchant open house. Merchants will offer promotions, complimentary services, raffles, and in-store mini-events such as entertainment, kids games and contests, and wine tastings. Families will begin to gather at 6:30 p.m. at Irwin Park, Ridge Road and Gottschalk Avenue, for the annual tree lighting ceremony. A bonfire, caroling and cocoa service will be provided while families wait for Santa to arrive on the fire engine at 7 p.m. to turn the lights on Homewood's tallest evergreen. At 7:30 p.m., Santa and carolers from area churches will walk families to Hickory Road, where Santa will visit with children. Hickory Road will feature live ice sculpting demonstrations by Nadeau's Ice
Sculpting. Ice carvers will create a toy soldier, snowman, and reindeer; displays will stay up throughout the weekend; cold weather permitting. Sunny Crest Nursery will have live tree, garland, and wreaths for sale, providing the ultimate family experience; onsite parking will be available for all tree purchasers. Food service will be provided by Hungry Hill Sausage. All activities are within walking distance.

Craft show | Munster
Munster Parks and Recreation will host its 22nd annual holiday arts and crafts fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 at Munster High School, 8808 Columbia Ave. This fair will include more than 112 exhibitors. Fine art, candles, tole painting, gourds, jewelry, wood accessories, florals - wreaths, ornaments, decorated trees, photography, woodcarving, clothing, pet items, soaps and lotions, wall decor and more will be available. Admission is free.

Cookie walk | Gary
Ross Reformed Church will have a cookie walk from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 6 at the church, 3900 W. 41st Ave. There will be a variety of cookies for $6 a pound. There will also be breads and other homemade items. All proceeds go to missions. Crafts will also be sold.

IN FEAT | Hammond
Northwest Indiana Families for Effective Autism Treatment, IN FEAT, will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 Mahoney Drive. IN FEAT is a nonprofit support group for families and professionals interested in effective teaching and treatment of individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities. This month's meeting will be a general support group meeting.
