Kickboxing | Calumet City
Get Fit With Kickboxing will be offered by the Calumet Memorial Park District from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, Oct. 28 until Dec. 5. The resident fee is $25 per participant. Registration is required, and is now being taken at the Sandridge Fitness Center, 600 Oglesby Ave.

Lung cancer walk | Chicago
The second Pauline Moraco-Arredondo Lung Cancer Walk & Rally will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 4 at the William W. Powers State Fish and Wildlife Area, 12949 S. Avenue O. Proceeds from the event will benefit the LUNGevity Foundation, the nation's leading private supporter of lung cancer research. Online registration/donations are recommended but are also available the day of the walk. The first 100 walkers will receive a goodie bag and T-Shirt. Refreshments will be provided to all. Allyson and David Arredondo, of Hobart, started the event to honor David's mother, Pauline. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2004 and died 11 months later.

The St. Francis blessing of the animals service will be hosted by the Environmental Missions Team at 9 a.m. Oct. 4 at Ridge United Methodist Church, 8607 Columbia Ave. This special service for pets and their owners is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures. Lake Central Baseball Stadium Club will host its Inaugural Golf Outing on Oct. 4 at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course in Crete.
