Servant's Heart 5K Run/Walk | Lansing
Trinity Lutheran Church will host its fifth annual 5K run/walk to raise awareness, fitness and funds for the Servant's Heart Ministry to the poor in Guatemala. The race begins at 8 a.m. Nov. 18 from the start line at Luther East High School, 2750 Glenwood-Lansing Road. Registration is free. Each runner is asked to raise $20 to donate. Magic Tree House | Crete
The Crete Library's Children's Department will hold a Magic Tree House Party from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 19 at the library, 1177 Main St. It's for children kindergarten through sixth grade. The popular "Magic Tree House" book series comes to life with adventures that lead the children to China, Egypt and Japan.

Shopping fair | University Park
The Governors State University Civil Service Senate is sponsoring a Holiday Shopping Fair from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 and 20 in the Hall of Governors on the university's main campus. All proceeds from this event are used for the Civil Service Senate Educational Assistance Fund. The event is free and open to the public. Vendors are needed for the fair. Fees are $33 for one table, $53 for two, and $73 for three. The selling of any and all goods suspected of copyright restriction violations are strictly prohibited.

South Shore Arts' 15th Annual Holiday Reading with John Cain will be held Nov. 18 at South Shore Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. Cain will read "A Christmas Story" by Jean Shepard. Snowflake bazaar | Dyer, Hammond
St. Margaret Mercy Hospital's annual Snowflake Bazaar will be celebrated Nov. 19 at the Dyer campus, U.S. 30, and Nov. 21 at the Hammond campus, 5454 Hohman Ave. There will be a raffle, bake sale, basket and Christmas wreath auction and purses being sold. All funds will be used for the Catherine McAuley Clinic, which provides health care to children and adults without medical insurance or government assistance.

GOBBLER CLASSIC | Dyer
For the past several years, Faith Church has hosted the Gobbler Classic 5K Fun Run/Walk at 7 a.m. Thanksgiving morning to promote healthy bodies, healthy families, and a healthy community. Everyone is invited to participate in this year's Gobbler Classic 5K at 7 a.m. Nov. 27 at Faith Church, 100 81st Ave. Whether running for a trophy or just walking for fun, the first 200 registrants are guaranteed a T-shirt, but everyone is invited to enjoy the goodies at the hospitality tent. The $15 registration fee (before Nov. 23) will be donated to the St. John Township Food Pantry to support disadvantaged families. Late registration fee is $25.
