Woman gets probation for stabbing boyfriend
A Gary woman was sentenced Thursday to six years of probation for the 2006 stabbing of her boyfriend, Lake Criminal Court records show.
Michelle Lane, 27, originally faced felony counts of attempted murder and battery. Those charges were dropped in return for Lane's guilty plea Thursday to battery causing serious bodily injury, records show.
Lane's boyfriend told police he went to bed and when he woke up, Lane was on top of him hitting him with something, according to a probable cause affidavit. He suffered stab wounds to his face, chest, arm and wrist.
Lane told police that before the attack she was thinking that her boyfriend was a bad person because he wanted oral sex.
"Then I got mad and stabbed him," she told the officer, according to the report.
