E.C. man charged with molesting 10-year-old

Richard Chambliss, 34, faces a felony charge of child molesting after being accused of fondling a 10-year-old girl, according to a probable cause affidavit filed recently in Lake Criminal Court.

The East Chicago resident creeped into the living room of a Guthrie Street home early in the morning May 18 where she and her brothers and sisters were lying on pillows, the girl told East Chicago police. Chambliss was staying in the home, records say.

The girl's uncle was asleep in his bedroom.

The girl told police Chambliss put his hand under her shirt and touched her chest, records show.

Chambliss asked the girl to come in the room with him, but she refused, records allege. Then, he gestured that he wanted to have sex with her, records say.
