Snow is expected to begin falling in time for the evening rush, with 1 to 2 inches expected for areas north of Interstate 80/94 and up to 4 inches in areas to the south by the time its all over.
According to Andy Boxell, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Romeoville, Ill., the snow is going to slowly begin creeping into the area from the south and begin falling sometime after noon. Temperatures are expected to be just above freezing, Boxell said, which should keep the roads more slushy than icy.
The snow should gradually taper off overnight, with only a few flurries expected by morning, he said.
Lake, Porter and Cook counties are expected to get anywhere from 1 to 2 inches, with Will, Newton and Jasper counties having the possibility of getting 3 to 4 inches, Boxell said.
