The Portage park department offers the following activities. For information, visit the park office at 2100 Willowcreek Road or call (219) 762-1675, ext. 303.

Craft show

Christmas craft show is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 29 and 30. Santa will visit each day from 1 to 3 p.m. Kid's Kraft Korner is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a cost of $5 per child. Booth spaces are still available.

Community dance

Portage parks will host a dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 23. All are invited. Cost is $5 at the door.

Purdue Christmas show

Join the park department and travel to West Lafayette to see the 75th anniversary Christmas Show on Dec. 14. Leave Woodland Park at 12:30 p.m. return around 8 p.m. Stop at the MCL cafeteria after the show for dinner, which is not included in the cost. Cost is $40 for residents and $45 for others.

Ballroom workshops

Ballroom workshops begin Nov. 24. Call the park for pricing.

Flag football

The Portage park department will host a USFTL 8 vs. 8 flag football tournament on Nov. 28 and 29. The cost to participate in the tournament is $150 per team plus a referee fee of $25 per game. The tournament will be held at the Portage High School practice football field. This tournament is for anyone who is 15 or older. Teams interest in registering can do so at the park office.

Bags tournament

The Portage park department will conduct a 2-on-2 bags tournament beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 in Oakwood Grand hall at Woodland Park. The event is for anyone who is 18 or older. There will be a cash bar available for those who are 21 and over. The cost to play in the tournament is $20 per team and those interested in participating can register at the park office.

Dodgeball tournament

The Portage Park Department will conduct its first dodgeball tournament of the season Dec. 20 in the Oakwood Grand Hall at Woodland Park. The tournament is open to males and females who are 15 or older. The fee to participate in this tournament is $50 per team. Teams interested in registering can do so at the park office. Tournament play does not begin until 1 p.m. but teams need to arrive at the gym at 12:45 p.m. so the official rules can be explained.

Open gym

The Oakwood hall at Woodland Park will be open for unstructured gym play during Christmas break from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.m Dec. 22, 23, 26, 29, 30 and Jan. 2. Volleyball, half court basketball, table tennis and badminton will be available. Cost is $1 per resident and $5 for nonresidents.
