Son of Steve and Lynne Styx of Cedar Lake.

Brother to Joe, Chris, Steve and Rachel.

Grandson of Lil Styx of Tinley Park, Ill. and Roy and Judy Sedlak of Orland Park, Ill.

Member of Zion Evangelical Church in Crete, Ill.

Accomplishments: Josh Styx is a freshman at Indiana University in Bloomington, double majoring in technology management and business and information systems. He received an IU Recognition Scholarship, along with a Jim and Betty Dye and Dollars for Scholars award. A 2008 graduate of Hanover Central Junior-Senior High School ranked in the top 10 of his class, he earned a Distinguished Honors Diploma. His studies junior and senior years focused on technology. Styx completed Security+ and Server+ classes and earned certifications in A+, Network+ and Excel. He also completed Advanced Placement classes. Styx worked on the audio visual committee at his church, where he prepared Power Point presentations to go along with the weekly readings and sermons. He was selected and attended Hoosier Boys State as a delegate.

Personal hero: "My brother-in-law, Scott Burke. What he's doing is what I would like to be doing as far as a career. He's a really hard worker and really smart and he's been very successful."

What I read: "I like a lot of books by Stephen Covey, including ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People'."

What I do for fun: "I like to play a lot of sports and to hang out with my friends."

People might be surprised to know: "I'm trying to learn to play guitar."
