Pastor of Chicagoland Baptist Church in Lansing.
Bachelor's degree in pastoral theology-Greek from Fairhaven Baptist College.
Ordained in 2002.
He and his wife, Tammy, live in Lansing and have four children.
Accomplishments: Pastor B.J. Nordgren is working to establish Chicagoland Baptist Church. It was started in May 2007 and meets temporarily at Luther East High School, 2750 Glenwood Lansing Road. Nordgren passes out Bibles and tracts- pamphlets with a Gospel message and information on the church to get the word out and hopefully build the church's membership. He leads an all ages Sunday school and presides at the 11 a.m.and 6 p.m.Sunday worship services. His sermons are broadcast at 9:30 a.m.Sunday mornings on WJOB. Nordgren leads an adult Bible study that meets on Thursday, and hopes to do more in the area of children's ministry. "Our focus is learning Christ, loving him and living for him and we do that by hearing his word, fellowshipping with one another and edifying each other," he said. "We believe Christ and The Bible can make a difference in lives." Nordgren, a graduate of Morton High School in Hammond class of 1995, previously served as an assistant pastor in Utah for six
years. "I'm really thankful to be back here -- back home," he said.
Why I minister to others: "It's a calling I believe God has on my life."
What I read: "I like to read history and theology most of all. I like to study Greek language and I like biographies too."
Advice: "Reading the Book of Romans and John in the Bible is a great thing to do."
What inspires me: "The fact I know I'm doing what the Lord wants me to do and that He gives me grace and strength to fulfill his purpose through me."
