A 4-year-old Munster boy who nearly drowned in a pool during a spring break camp at Omni 41 Health and Fitness in Schererville Tuesday has died.

A spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed late Wednesday morning that the child died at Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago.

Advait Gopan, 4, of Munster died at 6:35 a.m. at Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago, according to the medical examiner's office. The official cause of death has not yet been determined.

A spokeswoman for Omni 41 said Tuesday Gopan was participating in a supervised spring break camp activity in the pool at 221 S. U.S. 41 when he was found under water in the shallow end of the pool. Emergency crews sent to the scene attempted to revive him and he was transported to St. Margaret Mercy Medical Centers in Dyer before being taken by ambulance to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago.
