The Indiana Supreme Court, Court of Appeals of Indiana, Indiana Tax Court and all related agencies will close Thursday and Friday for the Fourth of July holiday.

Filings in any of the courts due Thursday and Friday now have a filing deadline of Monday, the first day the court will open after the holiday break.

The appellate courts previously observed 14 holidays a year. This year, July 5 was declared a national holiday for the courts' office for the first time.

"The day is being given in appreciation for the hard work and dedication exhibited by the courts' employees," Chief Justice Dickson said.

All post offices also will be closed July 4 and no mail will be delivered that day.
