GARY — A 44-year-old man was killed and a 19-year-old man was wounded in two separate shootings this week in Gary.

Danny Raye Leake, of Gary and Tennessee, was found about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of East 49th Avenue. He died from gunshot wounds in a homicide, according to the Lake County coroner's office.

The 19-year-old Gary man was wounded in a shooting about 9 p.m. Monday in the 1700 block of Pierce Street, police said Friday.

The man ran to a nearby home for help and was given a ride to a local hospital, Lt. Dawn Westerfield said.

The man, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, has not been able to speak to police.
