GARY — People who come across a viral video on social media of an adult male sexually assaulting a child should report it and then immediately delete it, Gary police said.

The Associated Press reported that a child porn video has been circulated as far as Colorado and France. Gary police responded to a complaint about the video as well.

The adult male in the video being circulated on Facebook turned himself in Tuesday to Millbrook, Alabama, police.

Germaine Moore, 44, was charged with sexual assault of a child, distribution of video depicting the assault and first-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the AP.

State Bureau of Investigation Lt. Brooke Walker says Moore's fiancee was arrested Monday night and is not cooperating, according to the Associated Press.

Moore also is wanted in Detroit, where prosecutors allege that he sexually assaulted three girls.

On Friday night, local police received a report from two people in Gary about the Facebook video, Lt. Dawn Westerfield said.

She said Gary police could not determine the origin and turned the case over to federal authorities. Later Tuesday, it was announced a suspect had been identified and arrested, she said.

The Gary Police Department posted a message on its Facebook page Tuesday urging anyone who sees or receives the video to report the video and delete it immediately.

Montgomery, Alabama, police charged 42-year-old Jerrell Washington with distributing it, and warn that anyone who shares the video, even in outrage, can be charged as well, according to the Associated Press.
