GARY — A man wearing a mask and gloves pressed a gun to a gas station employee's back and took an undisclosed amount of money from the store, police said.

Gary police were dispatched to the gas station in the 3500 block of Broadway about 3:50 p.m. Sunday and spoke with the employee, who told police the man surprised her as she went to make coffee because she didn't think anyone was in the store.

The woman said she was walking to a coffee area when she felt something pressed to her back and a man said, "This is a robbery," Lt. Dawn Westerfield said.

He ordered her back behind the register at gunpoint and took off with cash from the store.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Detective Sgt. Gregory Wolf at 219-881-1210. To remain anonymous, call 866-CRIME-GP.
