An elementary school in the Roselawn, Indiana was on lockout Wednesday morning, but authorities say there is no immediate threat to the facility.

Lincoln Elementary School was placed on lockout as a precaution after a person fleeing police along I-65 drove onto an access road and then fled on foot from his vehicle in the Roselawn area.

North Newton School Corporation Superintendent Destin Haas said the school was placed on lockout, in which no one is allowed to enter or exit the building, at the direction of Newton County Sheriff Thomas VanVleet. He said it will remain on lockout until they are notified to end it by the sheriff.

Indiana State Police officials said they received a call at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday regarding a suspect fleeing a Hobart police car on Interstate 65.

Police were still searching for the man at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.
