CALUMET TOWNSHIP — Police said Tuesday a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a 57-year-old man's homicide in October.

Daniel Ray Valdez was found dead Oct. 20 at his home in the 4300 block of Taney Street in Calumet Township, according to police and the Lake County coroner's office.

Authorities think Valdez was killed between Oct. 13 and 19. The cause of death remained pending, said Scott Sefton, chief deputy coroner.

Valdez was known to frequent the Gary and Hammond areas and rode a gray Honda moped, police said.

Detectives will disclose the amount of the reward offered to those who call with information, Lake County Sheriff's Department spokesman Emiliano Perez said.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Detective Michelle Dvorscak at 219-755-3346.
