CROWN POINT — A criminal court judge agreed Tuesday to delay the trial of a 45-year-old man accused of running a dog fighting operation from his home in St. John.

Robert Harper was scheduled to appear at trial Oct. 10 on three charges related to animal fighting, but defense attorney Paul Stracci requested the trial be rescheduled due to ongoing evidence review.

Judge Diane Boswell scheduled a status hearing for Nov. 14.

Harper was charged in August 2015 after police searching his home in an unrelated criminal case discovered dog-fighting paraphernalia, including veterinary drugs and documents detailing how to train dogs for fights.
