HAMMOND — A 19-year-old is dead and three others wounded after a shooting Tuesday at Douglas Pointe Apartments. 

Hammond police Lt. Steven Kellogg said police responded at about 4 p.m. to the apartment complex in the 500 block of Point Drive for a report of a gunshot victim. It was not immediately clear if the shooting occurred inside the complex. 

The Lake County Coroner's office listed the deceased individual as "John Doe" in a news release issued Tuesday night. The release stated the victim was a 19-year-old man from Hammond who lived at the apartment complex where the shooting occurred.

He was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. at Munster Community Hospital from gunshot wounds in a homicide, the release stated. 

No suspect information was immediately available. Age, gender and other identifying information was not immediately available for the other three victims.

The shooting victims were transported to various hospitals for treatment.

Police were still on scene as of 5:50 p.m., Kellogg said.
