LAPORTE — A Michigan City woman was injured Monday morning after a car crashed through her office window.

Rachel Stone, 32, of Michigan City, was transported to LaPorte Hospital, police said.

The crash happened about 10 a.m. at Personal Finance Co. at the Pine Lake Shopping Center.

A LaPorte woman said she was pulling up to park in front of the building and must have pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, according to police. Her 2013 Buick Verano crashed through a large storefront window and stopped halfway into the building.

Stone said she was seated at her work station when a short divider wall hit by the vehicle was pushed into her desk, throwing her onto the floor about six feet from where she was seated, according to police.

LaPorte Police Cpl. Joe Toth said the LaPorte woman was allowed to drive home afterward. He said she likely will not be charged.

"It wasn’t intentional," Toth said.
