EAST CHICAGO | The East Chicago Fire Department received a $72,450 grant to replace department radios, officials said Wednesday.
The office of U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, announced the grant in a news release. The money is from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, according to the release.
At least six other departments in Indiana have received similar grants, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's website.
