About Pamela:
She and her husband, Raymond, live in Hammond and have four children and 10 grandchildren. Previously taught piano and organ and worked at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center for 10 years. Certified Reiki instructor.
Accomplishments: Pamela Kozy is owner and director of Heart in Hand Natural Health Center in Highland. She instructs Reiki, Reiki reflexology and basic meditation. "It's been a goal of mine to have the center ever since I started doing Reiki (a nonevasive gentle form of healing touch), because there wasn't a center like this in the area," she said. "We have found Reiki calms and de-stresses the body and it helps to alleviate pain." Kozy works with patients who suffer from migraine headaches, back pain and has found it's very beneficial for cancer patients. "That is my passion, helping cancer patients anyway I can," she said. "It totally relaxes the patient or client and helps them find tremendous peace and calm. It's the same relaxation as getting a massage, but there's no manipulation." Kozy volunteers her time and talents monthly at the Cancer Resource Centre, which provides support education and encouragement to those diagnosed with cancer. "When I see the joy the Cancer Resource
Centre brings to the patients, because of all that they offer and it's a free service, who wouldn't want to volunteer?" Kozy recently graduated and is certified as an energy medicine practitioner. She is a member of Innersource Eden Energy Medicine Organization, International Association of Reiki Professionals and Highland Chamber of Commerce.
Personal hero: "My mother. She was a very independent, strong woman and very kind. She always had time to listen."
What I read: "Right now I've been reading books on energy, the body and health, healing and books to improve health."
Advice: She quoted Albert Einstein: "There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle and the other is as though everything is a miracle."
