INDIANAPOLIS | Democrat Tara Nelson decided this week not to take a second run at unseating U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, R-Indianapolis.

"I am withdrawing my name as a candidate for Indiana's Congressional District 4 because of personal family reasons," Nelson said. "I want to thank all of my supporters and the District 4 Democratic Party leaders during this time. Continued support and prayers for my family are appreciated."

Her exit leaves West Point, Ind., teacher John Dale and Howard Joseph Pollchik vying for the Democratic nomination to face Rokita, a Munster native, who easily defeated Nelson in 2012.

The district, which includes Newton and Jasper counties, is among the most Republican-leaning in the state.
