Age: 54

Office sought: Porter County Council, At-large

Political experience: Elected to three terms on the Buns Harbor Town Council. Elected to two terms on the Porter County Council.

What prompted your decision to run for this office?: To try and bring my years of experience in office to help the people Porter County have a better life through lower taxes and a good quality of life.

Top three goals:

  • Protect the money from the sale of the hospital. Use the interest money from the sale to fund job-creating projects in the county, maybe joint ventures with the cities and towns. Do not use the interest to run the county as it is not a long-term funding source.
  • Bridge the gap between the council and the commissioners' office as it appears they cannot work together for the good of the county. With my years that i have on the County Council i learned to work with all sides to solve the problems.

Why should voters choose you?: My years in office have trained me in the workings of government. I will not need a learning curve. I will hit the ground running.

What would you do on your first day in office?: Have a meeting with all other elected officials to get a feel for the problems they are facing to run their office efficiently and work toward solutions.

What else would you like to tell us?: I have many years in public service. I bring common sense to government, and I want to make the county a better place to live through jobs and economic development.
