INDIANAPOLIS | Mike Claytor, a retired accountant and attorney from Carmel, is set to announce Thursday that he's seeking the Democratic nomination for state auditor.
The Hartford City native and Ball State University graduate previously worked for the State Board of Accounts as deputy state examiner. He later was a partner at Crowe Horwath LLP, the Indianapolis accounting and consulting firm.
Claytor said he plans to apply his 40 years of work experience toward improving government transparency and holding state officials accountable for how they invest taxpayer dollars.
He must be chosen at next summer's Democratic state convention to run in the Nov. 4, 2014, general election.
