INDIANAPOLIS | U.S. Sen.-elect Joe Donnelly learned Wednesday he'll be a member of the Armed Forces, Agriculture and Aging committees when the U.S. Senate convenes next month.

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve the diverse needs of Hoosiers, especially our men and women in uniform, agricultural community and seniors," said Donnelly, a Democrat.

Donnelly served on the Veterans Affairs and Financial Services committees during his six years representing north central Indiana in the U.S. House.

He's replacing U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar, who was the top Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee and also served on the Agriculture Committee.
