INDIANAPOLIS | Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt has offered $1 million cash to Republican U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock if he can prove pregnancies caused by rape are "something that God intended to happen."

In a full-page ad in Thursday's Indianapolis Star newspaper, Flynt promises Mourdock he will deposit $1 million "in any bank you designate in the United States, Cayman Islands or Switzerland" if Mourdock is "kind enough to verify your claim for a wondering nation."

"I will accept for purposes of this reward any verifiable transcript of your personal conversations with God; letters, email, text messages or videos from God, or messages addressed to you from God transmitted by any third party, including the Republican National Committee or the Romney/Ryan campaign," Flynt says in the ad.

Flynt continues, "I assume that you would not have made this statement unless you had been authorized by God. No one who believes in God would ever use the Almighty's name in vain. That would be blasphemy."

Mourdock made his divine rape remarks during an Oct. 23 U.S. Senate debate with Democrat Joe Donnelly and Libertarian Andrew Horning. Mourdock later apologized if his statement was misinterpreted, but said he couldn't apologize for his belief that God creates all life.

It appears unlikely Mourdock will take Flynt up on his $1 million offer, despite daily requests that supporters urgently send campaign funds. In a statement, Mourdock called Flynt's ad a "sleazy attack on my faith."

Flynt, a Democrat and noted defender of the First Amendment, has used similar $1 million offers in the past to expose the sexual peccadilloes of congressional Republicans.
