INDIANAPOLIS | Secretary of State Connie Lawson is reminding Hoosiers that Monday is the deadline for potential voters to register ahead of next month's primary election.
"Hoosiers who fail to register will not be able to vote on May 6," Lawson said. "I encourage everyone who is not registered to register today to make your vote count."
Voter registration forms are available online at indianavoters.com and must be printed, filled out and postmarked by Monday to be accepted. A valid Indiana driver's license/identification card or proof of address is required to register.
Registration also can be completed in-person at the county voter registration offices in Crown Point or Valparaiso.
U.S. citizens at least 18 years old who have lived in their precinct for 30 days and are not incarcerated following a criminal conviction are eligible to register.
State law also permits 17-year-olds who will turn 18 prior to the Nov. 4 general election to register and vote in the primary election.
