Political experience: None.
What prompted your decision to run for this office?: "Service above self." As a Rotarian for more than 25 years, the words have special meaning to me. I have been very fortunate to be associated with and board member of various foundations in Porter County. It is time I provide my experience to the people of Porter County.
Top three goals:
- To be the best I can be. When elected the first item has to be to establish a continuity between the council and commissioners we are elected to serve the people of Porter County. Public disputes solve nothing.
- Accountability. Many layers of local government make it difficult for the average citizen to understand how to address specific needs, concerns or issues. When elected I will be more transparent and responsible for my actions.
- Prompt joint purchasing by schools. When elected I will recommend that school districts be required to purchase certain goods by joint arrangements. Encourage additional use of cooperative service arrangements.
Why should voters choose you?: I have the business experience and insight to understand how important workers and wage-earners are to our economic strength. Porter County is in need of people who have the experience to create economic opportunities and stop the wasteful spending.
What would you do on your first day in office?: Get acquainted with as many people who work for Porter County cities and towns. Listen to what they have to say about the operations of the county and what can be done to provide more efficiencies and effectiveness. I guess that could be a another goal.
What else would you like to tell us?: One of your questions above is "political experience." I have none. What I do have is 25 years of starting and operating a mufti-million dollar business, and now I would like the opportunity of providing that experience in the public sector.
