INDIANAPOLIS | An Indiana state senator, whose district includes Jasper County, has been selected to serve as policy adviser to a national Republican political action committee.

State Sen. Brandt Hershman, R-Buck Creek, chairman of the Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, was the only Hoosier lawmaker named to the 2013 GOPAC Legislative Leaders Advisory Board.

Hershman's role will be to promote policies intended to cut government spending, create private sector jobs and reduce the cost of public services.

"There is no doubt that the leaders in our states are the guiding light for real reform in America," said Frank Donatelli, GOPAC chairman.
