INDIANAPOLIS | U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita, R-Indianapolis, is standing by his statement that Obamacare is "one of the most insidious laws ever created by man," even after being skewered for the claim on national television Tuesday night.

Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," clapped in mock awe of Rokita's CNN comment and sarcastically praised the Munster native for ranking Obamacare ahead of even the worst laws enacted in America, which include slavery and Jim Crow.

"(He's) putting Obamacare up with the Nuremberg laws, the Spanish Inquisition and prima nocta -- the medieval law where on your wedding night the king gets to sleep with your wife," Stewart said.

Stewart went on to blast "House Republican morons" for shutting down the government in a futile quest to repeal the Affordable Care Act, whose health insurance marketplaces opened Tuesday despite the government shutdown.

Rokita spokesman Zach Zagar said the second-term Congressman truly believes Obamacare is one of the worst laws ever.
