BURNHAM | Isaiah Lopez is only 7 years old, but he's already a big fan of professional wrestling. So perhaps it was only natural that Isaiah chose his favorite wrestler, Rey Mysterio, to emulate for his school's Halloween party.
Isaiah wore his wrestler costume Friday in a parade at Burnham School, 13945 Green Bay Ave., that looped its way around the block to show off costumes to the surrounding neighborhood.
While the school routinely has Halloween celebrations, this was the first year that officials decided to have an outdoor parade.
"This year, we decided to let everyone see what is happening here," said kindergarten teacher Jennifer Polley.
Residents had a chance to see the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader from "Star Wars" being chased around the block by the Ghostface character from the "Scream" movies, along with countless witches, princesses, Winnie the Pooh, Batman, Little Bo Peep, and even a sumo wrestler and a Ninja warrior.
It also is why various parents gathered around the block to catch a glimpse of their child among the 68 who participated in the event.
Those parents included Isaiah's parents, David and Erin Aguilar. His mother said, "he's so proud of that costume. He wanted everything just perfect."
That included tattoos being drawn onto his "chest," which was a body suit meant to make his arms and shoulders look excessively muscular, to duplicate the tattoos the real Rey Mysterio has.
Where Isaiah got his interest in wrestling, David Aguilar admits it is his doing.
"I got him into it," he said.
