FINANCIAL WORKSHOP | South Holland
The Business & Career Institute of South Suburban College will host another course in their Breakfast with BCI Workshop Series titled "Financial Solutions for Business Owners," on May 6 in the Heritage Room on the main campus, 15800 S. State St. Check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m. with the workshop to follow from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
This workshop will be presented by Sharon L. Case, financial adviser with Edward Jones Financial Services. It is designed to assist small business owners with understanding the financial strategies and tools available to help them run their business more effectively. The cost for the training is $15 per person, or $10 per person if three or more individuals from the same company attend. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required.

TAG DAYS | Lansing
Camp Quality Illinois, an organization for children with cancer, is having tag days from 4 to 6 p.m. May 7 and 9 a.m. to noon May 8 in Lansing. Donations will help to finance a one-week camp experience in August and other events during the year. Look for volunteers at Lansing intersections, banks and the post office on those dates.

The 74th annual alumni banquet of Mount Carmel High School takes place May 7 in the clubhouse at Hawthorne Racecourse, 3501 S. Laramie Ave., to benefit The Brother John/Frank Kiszka Memorial Scholarship Fund. Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. The classes of 1960 and 1985 are the special guests. Tickets cost $55.

LOU GEHRIG DAY | Chicago
Tickets are available through May 7 for the 16th annual Lou Gehrig Day at Wrigley Field, Addison and Clark streets, to benefit the Les Turner ALS Foundation. The event takes place beginning at 10 a.m. June 19 at Goose Island Brewpub, 3535 N. Clark St. Tickets are $110 per adult and $85 for children 10 years old and younger. June 19 would have been Gehrig's 107th birthday. Following the pre-game party, watch the Chicago Cubs play the Los Angeles Angels. Guests enjoy unlimited food and beverages provided by Lou Malnati's Pizza and Goose Island Beer Co., a raffle, live auction and a terrace reserved ticket to the game. One auction bidder will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and four attendees will have their photograph taken in Wrigley Field's on-deck circle. LARC, a nonprofit organization providing services to people with developmental disabilities, is hosting a chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. May 7 cooked by Nelson's Port-A-Pit at the LARC Workshop, 19043 Wentworth Ave. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased in advance or at the drive through. Dinner includes a half of a broasted chicken, container of pasta salad and a roll.

The Southeast Chicago Historical Society hosts its annual installation of officers and dinner on May 16 at the Crow Bar restaurant, 106th Street and Avenue C.
