BURNHAM | A man and his two nephews appeared in court Thursday on criminal charges related to a weekend incident involving a shooting and brawl at a Burnham tavern.

Anthony J. Larkin, 21, of Calumet City, and his two nephews — Brice Larkin, 33, and Brock D. Thurman, 38, both of Chicago — appeared on charges of aggravated battery at the Sixth District Cook County Circuit courthouse in Markham.

Bond for the two Larkins was set at $70,000 each and while bond for Thurman was set at $30,000.

They had not posted bond as of early Thursday afternoon.

All three are scheduled to appear in court for preliminary hearings April 18, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Police Chief Pete Belos said the three are suspects in an early Sunday brawl at the Little Brown Jug, 14540 Torrence Ave.

Police are not sure what provoked the incident. A Chicago man is charged with shooting a security guard working at the tavern just outside the building.

Belos said Thursday the gunshots caused several people to come outside, then attack the man they suspected of firing the shots.

That man, 37-year-old Tremale Murphy, is facing charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Murphy is being held at the Cook County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bond set earlier this week.

Belos said the Larkins and Thurman were involved in the attack.

Police are continuing to search for several other men who were at the tavern at the time of the shooting and attack. Detectives are investigating a surveillance video from the tavern in hopes of identifying suspects.

The security guard shot in the incident was treated for his injuries at Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond.
