BURNHAM | Footprints in the snow led Burnham police to burglary suspects who live directly across the street from the home they are accused of ransacking, police said.

John Carlo Decasas, 18, of the 14300 block of Manistee Avenue, is charged with felony residential burglary to a home, police said. A male juvenile also was charged with felony residential burglary in juvenile court. A female parent was released without charges.

At 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a home in the 14300 block of Manistee Avenue for a residential burglar alarm. Officers found the home was forcibly entered and ransacked. They followed footprints in the snow that led them to the home directly across the street, police said.

Officers attempted to talk to the residents of the home across the street but they were not cooperative, police said. The suspect home was placed under surveillance until a search warrant could be obtained. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the search warrant was executed and two adults and the juvenile were arrested.

The property taken in the burglary was found hidden in the attic and was recovered, police said.
