CARBONDALE, Ill. | Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services is shining the spotlight on the newest winners of the Student Employee of the Month award.

Chosen for June is Ryan Seaton, a senior from Burnham studying information systems technologies. The winner for July is Afolarin Arowora, of Grayslake, a senior in pre-medicine who is completing degrees in chemistry and biology.

Seaton, has worked for recreational sports and services for a year and is the student custodial supervisor. The son of Deborah Seaton, he plans to graduate in spring 2015 and pursue a job in computer networking.

“Ryan is an exemplary employee. He is always ready to assist and lend a helping hand where needed. Ryan went above and beyond his regular duties recently assisting our department with a special project. Without hesitation, he agreed to help out with a very intensive, tedious, manual labor project. He is a very deserving recipient of the employee of the month selection,” said Corné Prozesky, associate director of facilities for recreation sports and services.

Arowora, the son of Christianah and Deen Arowora, is a two-year employee of RSS. He works as a fitness supervisor for the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation Program.

“Fola continues to go the extra mile to ensure success for every partner he works with in the AIR program,” said Brenda Winkeler, coordinator of special populations programs.

Arowora’s goal is to attend medical school and become a pediatric oncologist.
