DEC. 1

Holiday Open House | Homewood/Mokena

The Cancer Support Center, 2029 Elm Road in Homewood, and at 19250 Everett Lane in Mokena, host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec.7.

Join in for singing, great food and celebration. This event is open to the community. Age-appropriate activities will be provided. Please RSVP by Dec. 1.

DEC. 2

OVARIAN CANCER FORUM | Homewood

A monthly networking group meets from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Drop in and get connected with others who have a similar diagnosis. No registration required. The group meets at The Cancer Support Center, 2028 Elm Road.

BREAST CANCER FORUM | Homewood

A monthly networking group meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2. Drop in and get connected with others who have a similar diagnosis. This meeting is a potluck at The Cancer Support Center, 2028 Elm Road, Homewood. No registration required.

YOGA | Mokena

Yoga for (Healing) Cancer, led by Lisa Schneider, MS, LCPC, certified yoga instructor, meets from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 2, Dec. 9, Dec. 16 at The Cancer Support Center, 19250 Everett Lane.

This gentle yoga class uses the ancient teachings of yoga to address stress and the physical side-effects of cancer. This class uses seated and standing poses. All ability levels welcome. Breathing and deep relaxation are key components of this class. No registration is required.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION | Homewood

Facilitated by Valerie Piazza, RN, MA, LPC, Mindfulness Meditation meets from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2, Dec. 9, Dec. 16, Dec. 23 at The Cancer Support Center, 2028 Elm Road. Optional Tai Chi class precedes Mindfulness Meditation at 11 a.m.

Practice meditation and discuss how to effectively live in the present moment. Breathing and deep relaxation are key components of this class. This free program is designed to benefit people with cancer and their families.  No registration is required.

FIBER FACTS | Mokena

Fiber can prevent against and treat many diseases as well as certain types of cancers. Find out more about fiber's disease-fighting role and how to incorporate more fiber into a healthy diet. ONGOING

KIDS CLUB | Mokena

Kids Club meets from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at The Cancer Support Center, 19250 Everett Lane.

This is a group for children 12 and younger who have a loved one with cancer, who have cancer themselves and/or those who have lost someone to cancer. All supplies and snacks will be provided. Registration required.
