PERFORMANCE | Munster
"Noises Off" will run from Feb. 18 through March 21 at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road. Performances are at 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8 p.m. Fridays; 8 p.m. Saturdays; 2:30 p.m. Sundays; 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Also, for each show in the 2010 season, there will be one specific Tuesday performance at 10 a.m.

Windy City Pro Wrestling, an American regional professional wrestling promotion based in Chicago, is coming to the St. Florian School gymnasium, 131st Street and Houston Avenue in Hegewisch. AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY | Gary
The Gary Public Library's 40th annual African-American History Month program takes place at 3 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Genesis Convention Center, Fifth Avenue and Broadway. Special guest speaker will be author/poet, Sapphire. Sapphire is the author of the New York Times best-seller "Push," which was adapted to the big screen in 2009 as the film "Precious," produced by Oprah Winfrey and Lee Daniels. The program is free and seating is limited, no tickets or reservations needed. A book signing will be held immediately following the program.

WOMEN'S CONFERENCE | Highland
The Indiana League of United Latin American Citizens, or LULAC, will host its second annual Women's Conference from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 6 at the Wicker Memorial Park Social Center, Ridge Road and Indianapolis Boulevard. The "Women Promoting Strong Healthy Communities" conference will focus on educating women on various issues regarding health, nutrition, finance and leadership. Aunt Martha's mobile health unit will be onsite offering free screenings: glucose, breast cancer, blood pressure, dental and physical exams. Cost for attending the conference is $10 for LULAC members and $15 for non-LULAC members; includes a continental breakfast and luncheon, workshops and exhibit booths. The advanced child development class at Bloom Trail High School in Steger is offering a play school program for 3- to 5-year-old children who are not in kindergarten. The South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society will hold classes on family history - using Internet resources from 7 to 9 p.m. March 4 through March 25 at their library, 3000 W. 170th Place. PORTFOLIO WORKSHOP | University Park
The College of Arts and Sciences at Governors State University will hold a prior learning portfolio workshop from 10 a.m. to noon March 6. Attendees will learn how to develop a portfolio of prior learning to apply toward a bachelor of arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. The two-hour session includes an explanation of the portfolio submission process. The cost of the workshop is $50, which includes materials. Prospective interdisciplinary studies students may complete a prior learning portfolio to demonstrate how experiential learning compares to college-level coursework.
