CALUMET CITY | Ken Mabry and Mike Kaczynski, members of the Calumet Memorial Park District's grounds crew, decorated the giant fir trees in front of Memorial Park in preparation for the annual tree lighting ceremony.

This year's event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at City Hall, 204 Pulaski Road, with a marimba band, Christmas carols and live reindeer.

Then, Santa Claus will lead everyone up Wentworth Avenue to Memorial Park, 612 Wentworth Ave., for more choral performances, a complete holiday concert by the Thornton Fractional North High School Band, sleigh rides drawn by Clydesdale horses, fireworks, and a free visit for children with Santa.
