CALUMET CITY | The cause of a fire late Saturday night in a vacant building at 213 State St. is still under investigation, Chief Bill Galgan said.
Firefighters got the report of a fire around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the approximately 2,000-square-foot, one-story brick building that used to house a massage therapy school. Galgan said it took firefighters from Calumet City and surrounding communities about an hour and a half to put out the fire, which started in the rear of the building.
"The building was fairly involved upon arrival, (the fire) had (a) pretty good head start on us," Galgan said.
No one was injured, he said.
Firefighters from Lansing, Thornton, South Holland, Dolton, Homewood and Munster also responded.
