MUNSTER | Five high school graduates will be honored today with $1,000 scholarships courtesy of the Martin G. Alberico Scholarship Foundation.

The 2013 winners are Sade' Adams, of Thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City; Elizabeth Gacek and Rachel Thomas, both of Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn; Catherine Russo, of Highland High School; and Vincent Sheridan IV, of Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be in the top 20 percent of their class, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, demonstrate financial need and involvement in extracurricular activities as well as write two essays and receive recommendations from two teachers.

The one-time scholarships will be awarded during the sixth annual Bubby Fest from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Park, Calumet and Superior avenues.
