CALUMET CITY | Alderman Leni Wosczynski of the 2nd Ward is sponsoring an Earth Day art contest for high school students who reside in Calumet City, her office announced.

Participants must use recyclable items to make their unique artwork. For example, students can create a painting on a recyclable canvas, such as jeans or a T-shirt; a project can be made from recyclable cans or bottles or a work of art can be made out of recycled newspapers.

All artwork must be turned in by April 5 to the Calumet City Public Library, 660 Manistee Ave. to the adult services department.

Winners and prizes will be announced at the alderman's annual Earth Day celebration at 12:30 p.m. April 26 at the library. All contest participants are asked to attend the celebration.

For more information call the alderman at (708) 891-8192.
